Driver
Job Purpose Ensure safe, timely, efficient delivery of propane to customers to create and maintain happy, and loyal customers for Heart of Texas Propane. Duties and Responsibilities Drivers deliver gas, conduct line, and gas checks and ensure customer safety, following standards set forth by the Railroad Commission and this company. As a part of this work, drivers need to carry, fill out, and submit relevant paperwork, and log their schedules daily. Internal and external vehicle cleanliness is also the responsibility of the driver. Major duties and responsibilities are listed below. Duties include:
- Learn and execute safe LPG practices, ensuring safe customer systems
- Deliver gas to customers
- Print tickets
- Collect payments
- Conduct leak checks at customer homes
- Light pilots
- Appliance conversions
- Keep detailed driver log daily
- Close out the day
- Empty trash
- Washing the truck
- Go over daily vehicle checklist provided by Store Manager, which includes the (DOT) pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspection
- Learn and Perform basic equipment maintenance and report to Supervisor
- Office duties as necessary, answering phones, performing customer sales role
- Grounds maintenance, facility maintenance
- Fill bottles
- Customer service oriented
- Proficient in reading and writing
- High School Diploma or GED
- 1 year or more experience as a driver preferred
- CDL with Hazmat
- Railroad Commission (RRC) certification for Bobtail Driver
- DOT Medical Card
- Railroad Commission (RRC) certification for Service & Install (preferred)
- Pre-employment drug test
- Clear driving record
- All industry standard trainings and those required by federal and state
- Any needed training manuals and documents are provided
- Random Drug Testing
- Punctual with no excessive absences
- Pays attention to detail
- Team-oriented, willingness to work on duties outside of this job description to cover shortages in staff
- Driven, self-motivated and consistent
- Ability to read and interpret documents, manuals and reports.
- Ability to respond to common questions or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community
